Importance of saying your grace over your food

Saying your Grace

Like most Christian homes when you were younger, you Mother, Auntie, or Father would say to you, "Don't forget to say your grace" before you ate at every meal. I remember when I was young, I heard this time and time again. I would hurry up and say "God is great, God is good and I thank him for my food" not because I wanted to give God thanks for providing it, but, so that I could hurry and eat so I could go back outside.  At that age, back then I did not realize what I really was doing. But, as I got older, I realized that it was very important to bless your food and everything else in your life.

One day, as I sat with my co-workers during lunch; just as we were all about to unwrap our sandwiches and sit back a few minutes to watch our favorite soap opera, All my Children, the Lord spoke to me in my right ear and said, "Each time you have eaten, you have asked me to bless your food, you need to say your grace over everything so that it to can be blessed."

I was stunned and shocked for a minute. I didn't know if I should tell my girlfriends co-workers what I had just experienced or not. I didn't think they would understand, so I decided to keep it to myself as I thought that they would think I was crazy or something.

But, that day on I knew it was important to do.  I knew that it was Jesus voice, I knew his voice some how, it was so familiar, I knew his words.  I heard his message to me and I understood it perfectly what he needed me to do from that day forth.

I know the importance of saying my grace over my meals but, also over my life.  I began immediately to do it and teach it to my children everyday.  I share it with everyone and I remind them that it is important to say your grace over your meal as it is with all the things going on in your life.  Now I do it because I am cautious of his words to me.

So I share this blessing given to me with you in hopes that you decide that it to is important to "say your grace" over more than just your food. Say it over your life and all you do. Keep the Lords name in your mouth at all times.

Our God, and his son are gentlemen and they do not interfere where they have not been invited.  For this is the way of grace.

In Jesus name. Amen

That is a good story and a good hub. It reminds me, to be thankful every day, for all the many blessings showered upon me. So much we have; how vivid and beautiful and flowing with spirit our precious world is; and we have food, water, light heat...the cup runs over.

Thank you for reminding me to say "Thank you" and to ask the blessing on the gifts we're given.
